I almost killed Chica, which is why I'm...

I almost killed Chica, the smiling dog in the picture, which is why I'm so passionate about the quality of the pet food and treats that I carry the store.

The food that I got her when I first found her was, looking back, awful, but she ate it and seemed to be doing well on it. It was a veterinarian prescribed rawhide dental chew that almost killed her.

She loved those chews. She'd get them all soft and slimy, they she'd swallow them and throw them back up. One day, it didn't come back up. Thankfully, I was there and able to reach down her throat and pull the thing out before she choked to death. That is the last piece of rawhide she ever had.

Shortly after that, I started researching rawhide and other dog chews and treats, and dog food. What I discovered both shocked and disgusted me. The more I read, the angrier I got, and I made it my mission to try to find the best, and healthiest, food for my dog.

Later, when I bought Fifi & Fidos, I was determined to carry only the highest quality foods, treats and supplements for my customers, so that they would never have to experience what I did with Chica.

When I adopted Billy a few years later, he had issues digesting any dry food I fed him, and even one of my best dehydrated raw diets. I tried everything I could to help him. He would eat, then poop 3 or 4 times, losing most of the nutrition from the food. He was literally starving to death. Having studied raw diets for dogs & cats, I decided to try one last thing for him, and I put him on a balanced, frozen raw diet one night. The result was amazing - the next day he only pooped once on our walk, and only about 1/3 as much as before. He gained 8 pounds in a little less than one month and filled out. Needless to say, he, and now Chica, are raw fed dogs. Healthy, happy dogs.

I'm convinced that many of the allergies that our dogs and cats have are food related. Not all of them, of course, but most. Same thing with skin conditions and digestive ailments. Our customers have had remarkable success in dealing with these conditions by getting their pets on the diet that works best for that animal, whether it's a high-quality kibble, dehydrated or freeze-dried raw, or a raw diet. We also have supplements that can help in that process.

If you think your dog or cat could benefit from a change of diet, please come in and let's talk. I may not have all the answers, but together, we can help your pet live a long, healthy and happy life!
